I. Reading Section (30 marks)

Read about the daily routine of an ESPOL student.
All work and no play

Juan Carlos Moreno started studying at ESPOL this year. He´s an engineering student at the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science. So what is his new routine like?

What time do you get up?
When I was at school, I got upat 5am because I started school at 7.30am. Now I don´t get up so early. My first classes are at 11.30am so I usually get up at 8am.

I eat quite a lot because I don´t have time for lunch. I have a cup of coffee, a plantain with cheese and some orange juice.

At 9.30am. I walk for 15minutes to the main road. Then I get a bus to the city centre. After that, I get the ESPOL bus to university. I usually arrive at the university at about 11.15am.

From 11.30 to 17.30. I get very tired!

Sometimes I go to friend´s house to study. Other days I go home and do my homework onmy own. I have dinner with my family and I continue studying. I usually go to bed at about 1am!

The Shakespeare Experience

The Globe was a famous theatre built in 1599. People went to the theatre to see Shakespeare´s plays such as Romeo and Juliet and MacBeth, but in 1644 the theatre was closed and they built houses there. Then, in 1996, they built a model of the theatre. Today many tourists and Shakespeare fans visit it every year.

Thetheatre is located on the River Thames in London. From April to October, you can see old and modern plays in the Globe. There aren´t any performances from November to March because the theatre is open-air and it´s too cold. There aren´t chairs in the whole theatre so some people sit and others stand to watch the performances.
