INTRODUCTION
What I´m going to talk about: Social stability
It´s important because: it`s the main thing that the government in world state is looking for, in order to get it,they created a new word where the feelings doesn´t exist, because the feelings cause conflicts between the human beings and make people unhappy, they substitute their feelings with pleasures thatfulfill their needs, and instead face the reality they take soma for be happy and block their minds against bad thoughts.
Leaving the feelings outside, they also are easy to accept their role inside thesociety, because if there was not social division, no one will want to do the hard work.
1. Soma is a drug that keep them controlled and it`s notorious when
Someone doesn´t take it
Example: Inchapter 3 Bernard hears a conversation between Henry ford and the assistant predestinator about Lenina and that disgusts Bernard and they laughed of him and suggested him to take his soma
Explanation:demonstration of feelings is unusual in world state and the consumption of soma is the only thing that makes them react as if they don´t care other´s feelings and makes keep superficial relationshipsbetween human beings.
2. They take soma in order to escape from reality
Example1: In chapter 9 when Lenina intoxicated herself with soma and remains unconscious after visit the reservationExample2: In chapter 11 when Linda falls into intoxicated state taking soma constantly
Explanation: the soma is the answers to all their questions, actually is not an answer is only an obstacle toavoid negative emotions. Lenina is avoiding the bad thoughts that became to her been in the reservation about how the people is pretty different from world state, on the other hand Linda is lookingsomething that makes her feel less unhappy with her life after living in the reservation for long time.
