Introduction

This part of module III test, candidatesacquire knowledge of the range and function of strategies that will help them, to develop a successful class addressing to each part of the lesson and the varied kind of students we have in classes. This information available for teacher gives advices in managing classes in ways that are appropriate to each learner and useful for teaching and learning aims.
“Classroom management is the termteachers and instructors use to describe the act of managing their classroom and students to ensure that stressful and non-educational situations are avoided and students learn topics and subjects effectively. Classroom management involves more than the management and discipline of the students but also the availability of additional information on topics. Effective classroom management will make lifeless stressful for teachers and ensure that students are provided with the correct tools and a calm environment in which to learn”.
This chapter includes variety of activities and paces, ways of grouping learners, techniques for correcting learners’ mistakes and the roles by which teachers can relay to fulfil different stages of the lesson.
In the TKT test, exclusively this chapter, candidatesare asked to demonstrate a deep understanding of concepts and terminology related to the following and their implications for the L2 classroom:
Addressing to this part of the test we develop this work, in order to give you some more information about what is needed to succeed in this module of the test.

The roles of the teacher

It is really well known that teachers diverse when acting upona class, according to the TKT Course Book, “during a lesson the teacher needs to manage the activities and the learners in the classroom in different ways”. Of course the stages in the classroom also determine how the teacher may act. The behavior the teacher adopts is called “the teachers’ role”. “These roles will be appropriate to the type of lesson, its aims and the level and age of thestudents”.
As the same book states there are different kinds of roles a teacher may develop through on a lesson. Some examples are:
1. Planner: prepare the lesson in advanced, thinks in every detail. This teacher has varied and appropriate activities for the different learners in the class.
2. Informer: gives the learner detailed information about the language or about an activity.
3.Manager: organizes the classroom space, makes sure it is running smoothly and sets up rules and routines for behavior.
4. Monitor: goes around during the students work; either, individually, in pairs or groups, checking students’ learning.
5. Involver: makes sure all the learners are taking part in the activity.
6. Parent/Friend: comforts learners when they feel unhappy or upset.
7.Diagnostician: is able to recognize the cause of learners’ difficulties.
8. Resource: can be used by the learner for help and advice.
These roles may be used in these diverse stages of lessons; we also may sometimes take more than one role at time. If we are fluent in making these change of roles our effectiveness as teacher is enhanced.
