MACBETH ESSAY
Is Macbeth a good or evil character? Macbeth is a Scottish general and the thane of Glamis. He is great warrior, fearless, and someone with morals but he is led to weak thoughts andthe prophecies of three witches and other influences. He is easily tempted into murder in order to achieve his ambitions of being king and maintaining the throne. Later on, Macbeth proves himself thathe is a good warrior and a disastrous king; it is shown that Macbeth doesn’t possess the skills to keep the throne without becoming a tyrant. His response to every problem is violence and murder butwe can see that Macbeth cannot stand the psychological consequences of his violent acts.
At the beginning of the story, Macbeth is seen as the typical hero, who has great courage, an honorable manwho cares for his country, for his family and friends and always follows the correct path. “For brave Macbeth well he deserves that name- disdaining fortune, with his dandish steel, which is smockedwith bloody execution.” But unfortunately for this brave Macbeth, people and things surrounding him make him change. Bravery, ambition and self-doubt are three key facts that make Macbeth strugglesduring the story. His bravery leads him to want to obtain the kingdom and later on his wishes create an ambition of wanting all the power; but during the whole story Macbeth always doubt his decision-making influenced by people around him. Exterior opinions are always taken into account in Macbeth’s actions.
“We fail? But sorrows your courage to the sticking place and we’ll mot fail. When Duncan isasleep.” Macbeth begins to become a tyrant when influences, like Lady Macbeth convinces Macbeth of murdering the king while he is still asleep. Macbeth starts to become into something he is constantlydoubting and fearful. Macbeth is undecided about his actions, he knows he wants to become the king but he doesn’t know if the decisions his influences are making him to do are the correct ones....
