U.S War on Terror: A Nonstop Homemade Hysteria
It was September 11th, 2001, and suddenly an airplane crashed Tower I of the World Trade Center (WTC) in New York, United States. Followed by more attacks: Tower II of the WTC, The Pentagon inWashington, and a failed attack in Pennsylvania; it was the darkest day in the U.S.A. The next day, The New York Times published (2001) that “the mighty towers themselves were reduced to nothing. Dense plumes of smoke raced” (p.1). As a result, the U.S government found a responsible, and supported by the nineteen North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) countries launched the so called “Global Worldon Terrorism”. After what Sue Reid (2009) called “themost extensive and expensive man-hunt in history” (n.p), it is hard to understand how a kidney terminal ill could escape. As mass media played an important role in the aftermath of the attacks, some critics believed that all communications made by Al-Qaeda’s leader stopped in December 13th, 2001 when he died. Reid besides stated (2009) that “he is being kept ‘alive’ by the Western allies to stir...
