¿QUÉ ES UN CATALIZADOR?
La catálisis es el proceso por el cual se aumenta la velocidad de una reacción química, debido a la participación de unasustancia llamada catalizador y las que desactivan la catálisis son denominados venenos catalíticos. Un concepto importante es que el catalizador no se modifica durante la reacción química, interviniendo en ella pero sin llegar a formar parte de los productos resultantes de la misma.
Un catalizador es una sustancia o molécula que aumenta la velocidad de una reacción química. La mayoría de loscatalizadores sólidos son los metales o los óxidos, como los elementos boro, aluminio y silicio.
