Causes of the Popularity of Fast Food Restaurants

Eating is one of the main activities in human life. People need to eatat least three times a day to have the necessary energy and strength to do other activities such as studying and working. Due to the rush we are living in, nowadays, fast food restaurants have becomevery popular.In spite of how prejudicial this food is to human health,its popularity is growing more every day. Three causes of the continuous increase of the fast food industry are: accessibility,marketing strategies and lower prices.

The first reason that makes fast food restaurants very popular is their accessibility. People can find them everywhere. Most of them also offer delivery anddrive-through and are open twenty four hours, seven days a week. This accessibility facilitates the way people to have meals because they do not have to spend time going to the supermarket to buy foodand then going home to cook. It is easier to drive by and buy food already prepared or make a phone call to order a meal; even though the food has lot of fats. As a result, fast food restaurants aremore convenient for families and young adults.

Another reason for the popularity of fast food restaurants is their marketing strategies. According to Jennifer Irvin, author of “Fast-Food Marketingstrategies”, the fast-food companies’ marketing focuses efforts on what the average consumer wants: convenient, inexpensive food families on budgets. Fast food restaurants’ advertisements consist inradio and TV commercials promoting appealing food. They also make an effort to catch the attention of children by creating children´s menusand offering toys. Most of these types of restaurants have aplayground where kids can have fun.
