RESUMEN
El motor principal en el actual avance y desarrollo del mundo, es sin duda alguna el conocimiento. Y es este conocimiento producto de la investigación de hombresy mujeres lo que ha contribuido excepcionalmente al desarrollo de la humanidad y por consiguiente al crecimiento económico de las empresas.
Todos los días y por diferentes medios de comunicación, se muestra un nuevo avance. Las grandes empresas han entendido que la única manera de mantenerse vivos y competitivos en el mercado es apuntando a la investigación, la reinvención de sus productos, elconocimiento exhaustivo y cada vez mas prolijo de los gustos, preferencias y necesidades de los clientes; no existe el crecimiento sin el conocimiento y han demostrado que el principal valor económico en sus empresas es y será “el saber”.
Pero será el conocimiento suficiente para generar el éxito en las empresas?, o se necesitaran otros ingredientes como el “dinero”, para lograrlo. Si el dinerofuera un condicionante para garantizar el éxito, que pasaría entonces con las empresas que no cuentan con capital suficiente para invertirlo en conocimiento; estarán condenadas al fracaso?.
A lo largo de este artículo, tratare de explicar, con casos reales de empresas guayaquileñas, como es la realidad del pequeño y mediano empresario. Cuáles han sido las estrategias que utilizaron para lograrel éxito y si el conocimiento fue parte fundamental para lograrlo.
ABSTRACT
The main engine on the current progress and development of the world is no doubts the knowledge. The final product of research and the study of men and women had been contributed to the development of humanity and therefore the companies economic growth.

Every day and by, different media a new discover isshow. Large companies have understood that the only way to stay alive and competitive in the market is pointing to the research; the reinvention of their products, in-depth knowledge and increasingly more neat tastes, preferences and needs of customers. There is no growth without knowledge and has shown that the main economic value in their business is and will be "knowledge". But “known” will beenough to end as a successful company? Or will be necessary another ingredient as “economic resource” to get it? If the money were a determining factor to succeed, what will happen with the small companies with no wealth to invest in research to get the knowledge; will they be forced to fail?
In this article, I will try to explain with real life cases of companies from Guayaquil, what is thereality of the medium and small businessman, which were the used strategies to archive the success and if the knowledge was an essential tool to attain it.
