A single gene that consists of three different versions (or alleles) determines the human blood types (A, B, AB andO). Allele A codes for the synthesis of red blood cell that have the type A antigens (type of molecule) on their surface. Allele B codes for the synthesis of red blood cells that have the type Bantigens on their surface, and allele O codes for red blood cells that lack surface antigens. Red blood cells genes are inherited through the process of Codominance. Codominance is a form of inheritance inwhich both inherited alleles (one from each parent) are equally expressed on the phenotype. Red Blood Cells Description
