Good afternoon, my name is Alfonso and I will speak of the seven wonders of the modern world. On July Seventh of, two thousand and seven were released among the new wonders that are ChichenItza, the Roman Coliseum, the Christ Redeemer, the city of Petra, the Taj Mahal, Machu Pichu and the Great Wall.
My favorites are Chichen Itza and the Coliseum, but I will speak brieflyof all.
Christ the Redeemer monument. It sits on top of Corcovado Mountain in Rio de Janeiro Brazil. Is the symbol of the city and the whole country. Its construction began in 1926 andended in 1931.
Wall of China. This impressive monument has a length of 6 thousand and four hundred kilometers which is the only work of man visible from space.
Taj Mahal. Thismagnificent monument was built by the Emperor Janan Saha as an offering posthumous for his wife Mumtaz Mahal, which means "the chosen of the palace", so Taj Mahal means "Crown Mahal".City of Petra. This beautiful building was carved into beautiful rock roses, yellow, red, white and orange, which changes pitch according to the position of the sun.
City of MachuPicchu It is the great city of the Incas. It is located at two thousand and four hundred and thirty eight meters (2,438) over sea level. It is considered a marvel of architecture andengineering.
Chichen Itza. In the holy city of the Mayans built the temple of Kukulcan, also called "El Castillo". This mexican wonder is 24 meters high. Each side of the pyramid has 91 stepsthat multiplied by 4 gave us three hundred and sixty five, the same number of days in the year.
Roman Coliseum. It was the largest amphitheater of ancient Rome and had a capacity offifty thousand spectators. This magnificent building was built during the reign of the Flavian emperors. It was called Coliseum because his side stood a colossal statue of the emperor Nero.
My favorites are Chichen Itza and the Coliseum, but I will speak brieflyof all.
