Going into high school, college was something that I definitely wanted to pursue. My mother is one of the main reasons I want to attend a university. When I was akid my mother had to raise my brother, sister, and myself as a single parent. Life wasn't very easy for my family and I, but somehow we got by. Coming from Mexico City, where we only spoke Spanish, tocoming to the United States was a drastic transition and a whole new world for us. It was especially difficult for my mother because she had to find a job, and at the same time she had take care ofus. My brother and sister already knew English, making it not so difficult for them to fit into their new high school. As for me, I was only in kindergarden with no clue of what was going on.Growing up, I began to notice that my mother always looked extremely exhausted when she came back from work. I also noticed how my sister would come home from school and the first thing she did was open herbook and start working on her school work. Heading into junior high, I never understood why my mother would get so furious with me when I would'nt get good grades, but as I got older I began tounderstand why. My mother didn't want the life she has for me. When I turned fourteen, my mother took me to the fields to work with her so that I would be able to experience where she works. Once we beganto work the first thought that popped in my head," how can my mom do this every single day?" That day my whole perspective about college changed completely.
My older siblings were a major impact inmy life especially because they helped my mother raise me when they were practically just kids themselves. My older sister was the type of student who would only accepts A's and B's in their reportcard. I remember being so angry because everyone thought she was so intelligent and to my teachers I was just Edith's little sister who is not as talented. Of course they did not tell me that but...
