Walking on the Streets has Become Suicidal
Nowadays safety in the streets is not as it used to be in the past, and it has been a concern of all people. One case which illustratesthis is that of a 52-year old woman who dislocated her shoulder during an attack by a thief who mugged her in an Edinburhg street. The thief grabbed the woman's handbag strap and pulled it violently,causing her to fall to the ground.
This problem may stem from the consumption of drugs and alcohol. When people are under the effects of these, they have more courage to commit crimes, have no senseof reality and hence they are not aware of the punishments established by the law. In order to tackle with this situation it would be necessary for the government to ban all the selling and consumptionof drugs, and for the police force to punish the people in the streets that are high or drunk.
Another cause of the increasing crime in the streets is the influence of peers, some people arelikely to fall into gangs maybe to earn respect and status. What’s more, in order to improve their sense of belonging and also their popularity in such gangs, they are required to commit crimes. So as todeal with this situation, an improvement in education must be done, because people need to know that they can achieve and get all they want through a good education, they need to learn that they areother ways of succeeding in life.
The proliferate crime in the streets may also take place due to poor parenting skills, people’s upbringing which is based on abuse and neglect could provoke certainkind of behaviour later in life. Family values have to be introduced so as to deal with this situation.
