What is a stereotype? A stereotype means for people to have assumptions in some groups, in other words, standardized and simplified conceptions of groups. Nowadays there are many socialgroups that have reached the goal of being known around the globe, for example, the Emo, Scene, Goths, Preps, Darks, Punks, Rockers, Flogger, Chacas and more.
Stereotypes are not good for anyonebecause they usually create bad fame for s the groups listed above, and not just them. In the case of the “emo” group, stereotypes have done nothing but make people think being “emo” is something bad.The term “emo” came from the mid-1980s this music was melodic musicianship and expressive, often confessional lyrics, which came to the creation of a new subgenre called “screamo”. First it was justa genre of music but today it is commonly tied to both music and fashion. Among teens, the term "emo" is stereotyped with wearing skinny jeans, and tight t-shirts which often bear the names of thiskind of bands. Studded belts and black wristbands are common accessories in emo fashion. Converse and skate shoes are popularly worn among people with this fashion. Emo has been associated with astereotype that includes being particularly emotional, sensitive, shy or introverted. It has also been associated with depression, self-injury, and suicide.
These kinds of stereotypes just give a badimpression of “emo” people or in some cases other groups. In Mexico other groups discriminate emo girls or guys just because they have that impression, but they are too scared to at least look it upin a dictionary or Wikipedia. Stereotypes hide the truth; in this case, people in this group are very opened-minded. They are friendly and smiley, yes, some of them are miserable and hate their lifebut most of them are proud of what they are.
