C. S. Lewis

Clive Staples Lewis (C. S  Lewis) or  Jack Lewis , as he preferred to be called was born in Belfast, Ireland (now Northern Ireland) on November 29, 1898.  He  was a famous novelist, poet, academic, medievalist, literary critic, essayist, lay theologian and Christianapologist. In his novels he distinguished by use fantasy, science fiction,Christian apologetics and children´s literature genres.

In his childhood Clive loved read and he had a fascination with  anthropomorphic animals, when he  fell in love with Beatrix Potter´s stories , it encouraged Clive to write his first animal stories. Influenced by this writer he and his brother created an imaginary worldcalled Boxen that inhabited and run by animals, it is very known  until now.

He was only  ten years old when he suffered a terrible loss, his mother, Florence Lewis became ill  and died of cancer, then he and his brother were sent to boarding schools in England, the English accent and  English landscapes caused a cultural shock in his life.

In 1917,  during First War Word he wascommissioned an officer in The third Battalion and on 15 April 1918, Lewis was wounded and two of his colleagues were killed by a British shell falling short of its target. During his convalescence Lewis suffered from depression and homesickness then, when he was recovered he returned to his studies getting in 1920 a First in Honour Moderations, a First in Greats in 1922 and a First in English in 1923.What is surprising is that Lewis was not always a Christian, but was a committed atheist for much of his youth..When Clive was 15 years old he was raised in a church-going family in the Church of Ireland and he became an atheist and he was very angry with God for not existing. Lewis used to quoted Lucretious (De rerum natura, 5.198-9) because it had one of the strongest arguments for atheism forhim.

Nequaquam nobis divinitus esse paratam
Naturam rerum; tanta stat praedita culpa
"Had God designed the world, it would not be
A world so frail and faulty as we see."

In 1931 he converted to Christianity then of a long discussion and late-night walk, influenced by his friend and colleague the famous J.R.R. Tolkien, who hoped Lewis wouldconvert to Roman Catholicism, but it was not in this way and Lewis became a member of the Church of England.

Lewis met his wife Joy Davidman a communist American poet in 1953, she was separated from her alcoholic and abusive husband, the novelist William L. Greshman. Lewis fell in love with her because she was an agreeable intellectual companion and personal friend, his brother said that shewas the only woman whom he had met, who had a brain which matches his own in suppleness. However few years later she was diagnosed with terminal bone cancer, they got married in the hospital. They could live as a family only until her eventual relapse and death in 1960. 1The next year Lewis began to experiencing medical problems and in 1963 he dies with end-stage renal failure.

C. S. Lewis wasthe author of a number of popular novels such as “The Space Triology” (1943),“The Pilgrim´s Regress” (1933) and  the most characteristic novels of Lewis “The Chronicles of the Narnia ” (1949 -1954).

Faith and always believe is the most important message. This story starts with the End of times, evil bring cruelty and horrors to Narnia.
1 The last interview that Professor Lewis gave was in May1963. There is a Christian web site and the questions and answers reflect this.

At first all Narnians seems to lose their faith in Aslan but the perseverance of the children of Aslan they recovered it, not everyone of course, but everything is going right when they destroy the evil and start all over again with a new era and a new world as Lucy and Digory describes it "And yet they're not...
