Acknowledgements:

First I thank God for giving me life and let me get to where I am now about to graduate

and became bachelor of Equator. In 2nd place thanks to my parents for the great effortthat they made to allow me study at a prestigious institution like “Espiritu Santo” high

school and help me over my student life. In 3rd and last but not least important to thank

my dearteacher Cecilia Barriga for transmit all thing his knowledge by allowing them to

learn this language and show the importance for it, which will serve me through my

professional and everydaylife so we can have a great future and become a great woman

of good productive for the society.

Introduction:

My subject is the first hospital in Ecuador. I choose this topic because I foundit very
interesting and important as being a student of chemical biological specialization
should be aware of the history of my future profession because you love
what you know and a futuredoctor must love history of science.

The creation of this hospital was of great importance and benefit to the Ecuadorian
society as it, because itimproved the quality of life citizens. Thanks to thishospital could
successfully cure various diseases at the time were considered deadly, increasing the
average life of Ecuadorians.

This hospital was the Hospital de la Santa Misericordia ofJesus Christ of royal patronage
which then which was founded only 31 years after the founding of Quito in 1534 and was
inaugurated a March 9, 1565 by Don Hernando de Santillán, and was designed toserve
equally to indigenous and Spanish, the hospital gave excellent service for 409 years and
was closed in 1974.

The creation of this hospital helped the indigenous Ecuadorians change their wayof
thinking about medical technology and that once they did not believe it is this type of
medicine and only using alternative methods which were not always effective and often
