The Pigman by Paul Zindel is a novel that helps you face real life situations and teaches you how to keep trust with your friends. In this book there are two kids which are best friends that have another friend who is called Mr. Pignati, which is a older man. Mr. Pignati and the two kids have trust with each other until Lorraine and John make a party at Mr Pingnatis house without him noticing. This book shows you the consequences that you can face if you waste the trust you have with your friends. A theme that this book covers is friendship, i learned the importance of it and how it can affect your personality if you dont have any friends. What I was most focused on was on each of the characters homelife.Lorraines homelife, Johns homelife and Mr. Pigantis homelife. In the novel ThePigman unsupportive homelife affects the characters personalities.

To begin with, Lorraine's unsupportive home life affected her confidence. Lorraine's mother always told her she wasn't beautiful. For example, "You're not a pretty girl, Lorraine" (Zindel page 9). She was always uncomfortable around her mother, and could remember every word her she said. Sometimes she even believed she wasn't pretty.Lorraine became embarrassed of what she wore and lost self esteem. "People just don´t get jealous of me." (Zindel page 46) She always kept her mother's comments inside that she never forgot about them. Her comments were always in her head and brought them up once in a while. Because of her home life she started to lose confidence in herself, it affected her in a permanent way making her adifferent Lorraine. A Lorraine that insults herself, that always thinks in a negative way and is used to the negative environment. She started to lose her own opinion and adapted her mother's. Another example is when Lorraine's mother says: "You wear your clothes funny" (Zindel page 9) Lorraines unsupportive home life affected her lifestyle completely, most of the time thinking negative and sometimesbeing depressed.

Also Johns unsupportive home life affects his actions. John is a very nice boy that cares about others feelings even though others think he is very irrespecutful. John sometimes also loses control of himself talking in a rude way because of the pressure that his parents put on him. John said: " None of your business" (Zindel page 106) John loses control of what he really wants tosay and becomes rude. His parents tell him to be successful like his other son but John just wants to dedicate his life to acting. He just wants to be independent. He also stresses himself and smokes and drinks caused by the environment in his house. John said. "I smoke one with a recessed filter myself." (Zindel page 2) John smokes a lot and he does not care about what other people tell him, healso got excessively drunk at the party he made at Mr. Pignati´s house. John also puts bombs in the bathroom and writes on desks, he does what he wants to do like in page 4. Johns also says: "After my bomb avocation, I became the organizer of the super colossal." (Zindel page 2) Deep inside John is still a nice guy because he apologized to Mr Pignati for making a party and he really felt sorry. Healso cared about what Mr. Pignati felt and he asked if he was okay. John still is a nice boy but the laking of support in his house affect what he does in school and out of school. John changed part of his personality, he didn´t learn a lot about kindness and responsibility, because of unsupportive home life.

Lastly, Mr Pignatis homelife affected his lifestyle. After Mr. Pignati`s wife died hewas left alone. At home there is nobody that he can talk with or share thinking, no one to socialize with. This causes him to be depressed, to pretend to smile while he is dying in the inside. For example he hangs out with teen. No adult hangs out with kids that are strangers and talk to them for about an hour at the phone unless they are their own children or their family members. He went to the...
