Violence on television threatens children’s moral and emotional upbringing.

Nowadays, children are used to spending a great amount of time in front of the television, which has become a verypowerful influence on their manners and everyday decisions. Unfortunately, some of the most popular TV programs are getting more and more violent. I strongly believe that violence on television has harmfuleffects on children, threatening their moral and emotional upbringing and encouraging violent behavior.

First of all, children are taught to accept violence as a suitable solution to theireveryday problems. This affects the way they handle different situations menacing society’s harmony. For instance, there are a lot of northamerican movies and series that stimulate bullying anddiscrimination, such as ‘Mean girls’ or ‘Glee’.

Furthermore, little children tend to imitate what they watch on TV. They are inculcated with wrong values and ways of socializing. They reproduce violentattitudes towards their parents, classmates and even teachers that they have watched on the screen. It is no longer a surprise to see how children in Argentina react with violence when they fail exams atschool, blaming their professors for their own mistakes.

Last but not least, children turn out to be insensitive when it comes to violence. It seems as if violence had suffered some sort ofnaturalization which impairs children to distinguish right from wrong. There are not many movies or TV programs in which those who misbehave or act violently end up being punished. Moreover, no pity is shown forthose secondary characters that suffered from any kind of brutal attack or death on this kind of movies or programs.

In conclusion, violence on TV not only harms children’s moral and emotionalupbringing but also menace society’s harmony. Children are the future of the country and they must be given a right example so as to grow into peaceful, sensitive and noble adults. In my opinion,...
