what do you know about the united states? Well, you have probably heard of disneyland, hollywood and american football . But did you know that the population of the USA is 300million? Or that in terms of area, it is the third largest country in the world after Russia and Canada?
There are 50 States in the Usa . The 13 red and white stripes on the U.S. flag represent theoriginal 13 states, and the 50 stars represent the existingones. The capital of united states is Washington DC , but it isnt the biggest city. The biggest cities are New York(c. 22,000 000), Los Angeles(c. 18,000 000) and Chicago ( c. 10,000 000) .
The USA won independence from England in 1776, and since then, immigrant groups from different parts of the world have contributed to its population andculture. For the first couple of centuries, most newcomers came from Europe or slaves from Africa. Recently there has been a large wave of immigrants from Latin America and Asia.
The USA has thewolds largest economy, and the country has a strong influence on popular culture all over the world, including fas food, movies and music.
