Luis Alfonso Rodríguez López-Cepero, more commonly known as Luis Fonsi, (born April 15, 1978 in San Juan, Puerto Rico) is a Puerto Rican singer, composer and soap operaactor.

Born in Puerto Rico, Fonsi and his family moved to Orlando, Florida, during Fonsi's early childhood. At the time he was ten years old, Fonsi began to dream about becoming a member of Menudo, a Latin American boy band. However, participated in many local boy bands, including one, Big Guys, where he met and became friends with Joey Fatone.

In 1995, Fonsi enrolled at Florida StateUniversity to study music. He also joined the school choir and sang with the Birmingham Symphony Orchestra.

In April 2005, Fonsi had a brief return to the singing stage, when former Menudo member Ray Reyes invited him and another Puerto Rican, Adamari López, to a concert that was held at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum in San Juan.
Rather than choose to keep a pattern of trying to find fame in theUnited States with a boy band, Fonsi chose to better prepare for a future career, stable within the show. He went to Florida State University to study vocal techniques. Meanwhile, began recording demos in Miami. While at FSU, he heard the song of a University Music Department chairman, who offered him a contract with a major label.

In 1998, Fonsi recorded his first album, begin (I Will Begin).Begin became an instant hit in Puerto Rico and across Latin America, with Fonsi conquering markets like Colombia, Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Mexico and Venezuela. His 2000 follow-up, the Eternal, was equally successful. Around this time, Fonsi also recorded a duet with Christina Aguilera for her 2000 Spanish album, My Reflection. By then, Fonsi's fame had reached Europe, and who became acelebrity in Spain as well.

In 2001, a re-mix and begin Eternal launched, while Fonsi worked on his next album, Secret Love 2002. About the same time, some media outlets began to comment on an alleged affair, adulterous between him and married a famous Puerto Rican singer, who had succeeded to separate from her husband and bought a house near Fonsi Orlando property. The scandal did not lastlong, however, and Fonsi soon released an album in English, Fight the Feeling, also released in 2002.

Luis Fonsi broke the Billboard Hot 100 for the first time in September 2008 with his song "No I give up". It reached number one on the Billboard Hot Latin Tracks, his biggest hit to date. On October 10, 2008, Fonsi presented a concert.
In 2004, Fonsi made his acting debut in a Mexicantelenovela named Corazones Al Limite in which he played Roy.
By 2003, Fonsi began to become romantically interested in actress Adamari Lopez, who, as an artist and fellow Univision Puerto Rico, was constantly near Fonsi. That same year, Fonsi released the song "Embrace Life" ("Holding on to Life"), the album of the same name. The song later became a favorite of Lopez.

On June 3, 2006, Fonsi andAdamari López were married in a religious ceremony in Guaynabo. Today, Luis Fonsi, has many plans for the future.
