Colombian Food

The Majority of Americans when think about Colombian food think it’s spicy because the make a relation between Mexico and our country, maybe because it`s a stereotype but whatColombian food is a mixture of multiple flavors and it depends of the region of the country for instance in the Caribbean region the most known meal is the “Arroz con Coco” which tastes sweet but if you goto the Andean Region one of the most know dishes is the “Bandeja Paisa” which is salty and it might be a heavy meal if you are not use to eat fry egg with pig meat and avocado fruit; however if youare in the Amazon region , specifically where the indigenous people live they eat big puffy worms. According to those meals the Colombian food is represented in those zones by the Bandeja Paisa,Arroz con Coco and the big puffy worm.
In the Caribbean region the Arroz con Coco is well knows because is like a daily meal in this region, despite some people from the inner part of the country(Andean region) think it is too sweet, but the Arroz con Coco (coconut rice) it`s not just a simple Arroz with Coco it takes a process. Usually in the Caribbean the people start with the preparation ofthe Arroz and it takes the normal process that all people use: rice in boiled water for some time and when the rice is almost done the Caribbean people add the coconut juice and small pieces ofcoconut. When it`s done the coconut rice does not turn white like a normal rice, it turns brown but the color does not mean it is not well done, actually when it takes that light brown color it when you caneat it furthermore also if you can you can serve it with a fruit juice.
The Bandeja Paisa it’s a representative dish of the Andean Region but specially represent the department of Antioquia but itdoes not mean that the bandeja paisa is just eaten in Antioquia, nowadays it is eaten all over the country but specially in the Andean region.
