A QUESTION THAT CHANGED MY LIFE
My name is Karen Creagh .I am from Honduras .I was born in a small city named Olanchito,but when I was five years old, my family had to move to La Ceiba thecapital of the state of Atlántida. LA Ceiba is a beautiful city in the north of Honduras. There I lived 21 years. In this city I did my studies. I finished high school, and I began to study in theuniversity (CURLA) Small Business Administration. In this university I met my first boyfriend. I passed beautiful days with him.One day when I was eating dinner with him in my house, mymother asked me something she said would you like to travel to United States?” I immediately said yes! (My mother asks me this because she wanted better opportunities for me. I thought my mother didn’tlike my boyfriend) my boyfriend looked me. I knew the expression in his eyes that he was try to tell me something. I told him don’t worry everything is ok. I hope to come back, but didn’t keep thatI said. I never saw him again.
One month later ,my parents and I went to U.S. Embassy Office to get a tourist visa .In that time we didn’t it because in Honduras is very difficult to get avisa. On March 1999, we tried again. In that second time we got a tourist visa to travel to America. I was very excited because that was one of my dreams like other Honduran people.
On May1st ,1999. I traveled to U.S. My family and my boyfriend went to the airport to say good bye. I remember that day, I cried , I kissed and hugged them. Then I took my flight. I thought, today I begina new life. I arrived in New Orleans. My older sister was waiting for me. She and her husband were the first ones that had decided to come to the United States. My brother - in law had a good job...
