Until the mid- nineteenth century there weretexts and courses in what had been calling natural and experimental philosophy. With this name the contrast between materials that depended on experiments and others, such as literature or religion,which was not recognized . As the results and conclusions of experimental philosophy accumulated, it began to be difficult for one person to work on the entire field , then appeared the subdivisions.Well before 1850 , chemistry , astronomy , geology and other similar disciplines were separated as independent sciences. The core was running as this happened was called Physics. Because of its centralcharacter in relation to other sciences , understanding of physics is required in many other disciplines.Physics is a quantitative science , including mechanics, thermal phenomena , electricity andmagnetism , optics and sound. These materials are part of classical physics. If the resolution of a physical problem must be considered close to the speed of light or comparable to the size of an atom ,then it must take into account the principles or laws of modern physics , ie, the discoveries of the twentieth century. These principles include relativity and quantum mechanics .
