Introduction
The Dominican Republic is known internationally as "The paradise of the Caribbean", and that's because the country isbeautiful, both beaches and mountains, which have a unique natural landscape.
North Region
Entrance to the north coast of the Dominican Republic
The city of Puerto Plata is one of the largest business center in the north coast of the Dominican Republic, the economy of this city is determined the activities of tourism, agriculture and manufacturing zone. There is an active port, and a moderninternational airport that receives over 600,000 tourists annually, with a population of approximately 150,000, Hispana speaking. This city has established a large foreign community working in different industries.
This city is the gateway to one of the only people to vacation the spectacular north coast. In the vicinity is the resort of Playa Dorada, an important and developed resort hotelswhere the country accequibles complemented with gardens, beaches and golf courses.
The city of Puerto Plata is characterized by its narrow streets and high activity takes place in the same. Past century Victorian houses, gingerbread, large palm trees and a boardwalk that runs through the city and ends at the harbor just where the restored fort San Felipe, built by the Spanish in the early 1500s.The center of Puerto Plata is a totally commercial, most activity is concentrated in the city and in the resorts. Many visitors have fun visiting the city for just one day to go shopping and to feel what people's daily activity.
The North Coast: One of the biggest tourist attractions in the country with the lowest rates and an airport located just half an hour from the city.
Playa Dorada:The most important tourist resort in the northern region with 15 beautiful hotels at prices really substantial, complete with gardens, beaches and unique golf course (golf courses offer.) All these hotels work with the entire holiday plan including several casinos, discos and have the largest mall on the north coast: Playa Dorada Plaza
Cofresi & Costambar: These two important points have twoof the most beautiful beaches in the city of Puerto Plata, there are some foreigners retired established well known in this region, owners of villas and condos that are available for rent.
Sosua: A cheerful village surrounded by magnificent beaches, with a large number of visitors touring the small hotels, bars and nightclubs, and fully integrated with the Dominicans.
Cabarete: In thisvillage there is one of the best beaches in the world to practice windsurfinf, most activity is concentrated in the city center where there are numerous hotels, restaurants and bars.
Later other important destinations and easily accessible:
Luperon: Luperon Bay one of the weakest points of the north coast to the entrance of hurricanes. This city is growing in terms of boat services, hotels andrestaurants.
La Isabela: One of the first places settled Christopher Columbus on his first voyage in 1492, now an interesting historical point.
Rio San Juan & Playa Grande: One of the most popular coastal towns that run their boats mangrove lakes outside the city there are beautiful beaches and resorts that offer excellent golf courses.
Cabrera: a primarily agricultural region, which hasbeen attracting many foreigners who have built luxurious villas here.
The Samana peninsula: It's in the far North Coast, a region full of spectacular coconut and palm trees, there are other people with the same characteristics that are Samana, Las Galeras and Las Terrenas, people that have been developed through various investments of some foreigners who have settled in these cities....
