A Tale of Two Cousins
Life could be like a glass of water. If I am casually walking by the kitchen at home and happen to see a full glass with water on the counter, I may think to myself, “I amnot thirsty, I don’t necessarily need to drink a glass filled with water, I will leave it for another time.” While on the other hand, if I had just finished my 3 mile jogging routine on a hot summerday, I will not hesitate to drink that glass of water and would probably gulp the entire glass instantly. Why am I telling you this? Because, depending on your perspective, that glass of water couldeither be ignored or it could be a source of life of which every drop is savored and appreciated.
I have two cousins, Mario and Hector, both are in their mid-thirties. Mario, when he was growing up,had a tough upbringing. As a teenager, he never had any money to spend so he found himself working a part-time job at the local grocery store. He never had any extracurricular activities since hisjob and school work would take up all of his free time, plus he was not able to afford such an expense. At times we would hand his mother his entire check to help her pay for the household expenses.Life was tough for Mario but he always kept a smile and a positive attitude.
When he graduated from high school, he decided to enroll at the local university where he majored in engineering. Mariohad plenty of financial obstacles to overtake while attending the university but he managed to graduate after five years.
After doing an internship at an engineering firm, Mario was offered a fulltime position where he has been working for the past five years. He is an extremely hard working individual and is now the top engineer of the firm.
