the hasty-footed time
for parting us, O, is it all forgot?
All school-days' friendship,
childhood innocence?
We, Hermia, like two artificial gods,
have with our needles created
both one flower,
both on one sampler,
sitting on one cushion,both warbling of one song,
both in one key;
two lovely berries moulded

so, with two seeming bodies,

and will you rent
our ancient love asunder,

ELENA
Insolente Hermia, doncella ingrata,
¿has conspirado, te has puesto
de acuerdo con éstos para engañarme
con esta torpe irrisión?
¿Es todo esto las confidencias
que hemos compartido,
los juramentos de hermanas,
las horas que hemospasado,
cuando reprendíamos al tiempo,
de apresurados pies,
porque nos separaba?
¡Oh! ¿todo eso se ha olvidado;
la amistad de los días escolares,
la inocencia de la niñez?
Hermia, nosotras,
como dos dioses artificiosos,
creábamos las dos una sola flor,
las dos en un mismo bastidor,
sentadas en un mismo almohadón,
