CANADA HISTORY
The Aborigines
Like as in our Latin America, the Europeans who first landed on Canadian soil encountered aboriginal tribes for hundreds of years roamed. Many of them lived to workthe land and some others were nomadic hunters. Huron Indians of the Great Lakes and the Cree and Dene of the Northwest were hunter-gatherers. The "Iroquois" were hunters and farmers. The Sioux(surely you've heard that name in the films "Far West") were nomadic and followed the buffalo herds of mink. The Inuit lived (and still many living) life in the Arctic. The natives of the Canadian WestCoast fishermen were preserved and dried in the sun and smoking it, as the natives did with the jerky in the Argentine Pampas.
Of course, the arrival of European settlers, traders, missionaries andothers radically changed the way of life for all of them and, after 200 years of mutual coexistence, European and Aboriginal managed to create the foundations founding of Canada.
The EuropeansThere is evidence to say they were the Vikings who settled Greenland from Iceland makes us a thousand years ago, who first reached the shores of Eastern Canada. Europeans began to travel and create mapsof Canada Promero John Cabot back in 1497.
Between 1534 and 1542, Jacques Cartier made three voyages between America and Europe in the name of King Francis I of France. It was he who adopted theIroquois word "kanata" ("people") in 1550 to start using the term aa Canada on the maps of these lands.

In 1064, the territory now known as Maine in the U.S. established someof the first French colonies in America. They had also done the same for that time in what is now Nova Scotia. For 1608 Samuel de Champlain built a fort in what is now the city of Quebec. For nearly acentury, the French, in alliance with the Algonquin tribes, Montagnais and Huron, fought against the Iroquois. Finally made peace in 1701.
