Every person is called to receive a gift of divine sonship, to become a child of God by grace. To receive this gift, we need to reject sin, including homosexual behavior (having sexual intercoursewith a person of the same sex or being on any kind of sexual relationship). The Catholic Church teaches that acting upon homosexual desires is a violation of divine and natural law.
People say thatGod wants us to be happy, and that if being homosexual makes me happy it isn't wrong. The thing is that God wants you to be happy but in His way, not in yours. There are people who are happy killing,but that doesn't make it right, doesn't it? When I give this example usually people tell me that how am I comparing killing, to be with the person you love. Well, you are supposed to love God more thananyone or anything else. If you do, you wouldn't want to hurt Him, also that you'll love him more than your "partner". People nowadays think that being homosexual is "normal". Well, it isn't, peoplewho are homosexuals usually have a psychological problem or a hormone problem. God created the man and the woman for them to be together and reproduce and make a family, and that's how it is supposedto be.
Homosexual desires, however, are not sinful. You are committing a sin when you act upon your desires. Just like heterosexual people, being tempted is not the problem, acting is. You can havethe desire but resist it. In the Bible homosexuality is considered an abomination, as it is found in the book of Leviticus: "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination. . . .If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall be put to death, their blood is upon them" (Lev. 18:22, 20:13). Elsewhere Paul again warns thathomosexual behavior is one of the sins that will not let you go to heaven: "Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God?
