John Paul II

Polish Priest, named Karol Wojtyla was elected pope in October 1978 He was the son of an officer in the Polish Army When he was young he practiced athletics, football and swimming.It was also an excellent student, and chaired several student groups. Developed also a great passion for the theater, and for some time aspired to study literature and become a professional actor.
Whydid I picked him?
I chose this leader because he is a leading example of a human being, John Paul II has been acclaimed as one of the most influential leaders of the twentieth century during hislife he did many good things for others without expecting something in return like:
Reminding one of the main symbols of anti-communism and the fight against the spread of Marxism in places like LatinAmerica, where he fought vigorously to the movement known as the liberation theology.
He also played a decisive role in ending communism in his native Poland and eventually all over Europe
Heimproved the Catholic Church's relations with Judaism, Islam, the Eastern Orthodox Church, and the Communion Anglican.
During the Nazi occupation, he combined his studies and his work as an actor, to workas a laborer in a factory, to stay and to avoid deportation or imprisonment.
He was an active member of the UNIA, clandestine democratic organization that helped many Jews to find refuge and toescape from Nazi persecution.
Among the most notorious events of his pontificate highlights the assassination attempt he suffered May 13, 1981, as he greeted the faithful in St. Peter's Square, at thehands of Mehmet Ali Agca, who shot a short distance from the crowd. Time after the terrorist was publicly forgiven by the pope in person demonstrating his humility and human quality and also all thevalues that a pope and everyone must ​ represents.
