Vicente Alberto Masferrer Mónico, known as Alberto Masferrer, was! a Salvadoran essayist, fiction writer, and journalist, best known for the development of the philosophy of vitalismo. He was born!in Alegría (formerly Tecape), Usulután on July 24, 186. He did not receive a formal education, instead claiming to have! been educated by "the university of life," but he did! travel widely, havinglived in several Central American countries. His love of reading led! him to choos! teaching as a career. he founded and directed the newspaper Patria, which was social criticism and called for justicefor those most in need in the context of widespread poverty in the country. He began! his political career as consul of El Salvador in Argentina (1901). He came! back, and taught! in Guatemala, ElSalvador, Honduras, Costa Rica, Chile and Argentina and is named "teacher and director of Crowds" by Claudia Lars. Masferrer tried! to contain the violence unleashed months later, in the 1932 Salvadoranpeasant uprising, which resulted in the deaths of thousands of natives and Masferrer's exile to Honduras. Alberto Masferrer became! very popular because of his essays. he also wrote! the "El mínimumvital." he saw! different points of views. he wanted to cut! the evil by teaching. He went! into exile in Honduras, where he died a victim of his frail health and cardiorespiratory arrest.
ÓscarArnulfo Romero (15 August 1917 – 24 March 1980) was! a bishop of the Catholic Church in El Salvador. He became! the fourth Archbishop of San Salvador, succeeding Luis Chávez. He was assassinated on 24 March1980.
On 23 February 1977, he was appointed Archbishop of El Salvador. His appointment was met! with surprise, dismay.
