Tenses are always combinations of tense and grammatical aspect since Spanish is a language in which merging these two categories are merged into the verb inflections.
Some examplesPast simple vs. past continuous: The simple past is often used to refer to situations or actions complete the
past situations or permanent or long-term, also in the past.
Examples:I lived in Rome till I was 10.
- She bought chocolates because she thought you liked them.
On continuing, however, refers to situations or events of a temporary
time in the past. Many times the pastcontinuous is used to describe a situation
during which there was another event (simple past) that was interrupted or
parallel.

Examples:
-She arrived when we were having dinner.
-Tom was having a shower when someone knocked at the door.
-Theneighbour felt ill while he was working in the garden.
When we talk about situations or simultaneous events in the past, can be used past simple or the past continuous:

-They went on holidaywhile their son was at university.
-Jill was making dinner while he was laying the table.
Present Continuous
Usage: usually used to talk about actions that are occurring in the
time when spoken.In Spanish often amounts to "be + gerund".

Form complete contracted form

We are working we´re working

Simple present
Usage: usually used to talk about habitual actions, but sometimescan make sense of future.
Future Perfect
· Use: Used to express that something will have already happened or will be completed in a future time:
Examples:
- I´ll have finished my exams...
