European Road Transport Laws

LAWS.
In this point we are going to explain the most important laws regarding the road transport in the tourist area.
We are going to divide it into two groups, one with direct laws that affectdirectly to the topic and those who don’t affect it straightaway but influence the tourism sector.
Direct Laws:
• Regulation 1073/2009 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 21 October 2009on common rules for access to the international market for coach and bus services.
This law explains us the movement of passengers by road in the EU. It says that there is freedom to provide servicesin the European union in a regular way or occasionally. And also, that the service must issue tickets to the passengers.
• Regulation 181/2011 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 16February 2011 concerning the rights of passengers in bus and coach transport.
In this regulation is explained the rights that the passengers have when they travel in bus or coach services within theEuropean union. The main topics given in this law are protection of the passenger in case of death, injury, etc, right of reimbursement or retourment, the non discrimination no mater what country oforigin you are to complain; also, a explained complaint via in case that you need it, amongst others. This law makes a difference between long and short distances (under and upper than 250 km)
•Agreement on the international occasional carriage of passengers by coach and bus (Interbus Agreement).
The most important thing to take into account of this law is to know that it is only applicable onoccasional carriage of passengers, not regularly. Moreover, this agreement says that not only regulates the European members, but also those who don’t belong to it. It has a high level of liberalization,which means that this usage is free from authorization.
