"That which can be asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence" (Christopher Hitchens). Do you agree?

Sometimes people tend make statements without even thinking whether it is right or wrong. Most of the time, in order for people to believe something, they request for evidence. Frequently, if someone talks about an unusual concept, people will not believe it until they see itwith their own eyes. That could be recognized as evidence. Most of the Areas of Knowledge (Natural Sciences, Human Sciences, Arts, History, Mathematics and Ethics) involve the necessity of explanations and proof. So do some ways of knowing. In this essay I will use two to address the question: Reason and Intuition.
However, do these ways of knowing all need evidence? Does that which can bevalidly asserted to exist without evidence be dismissed without evidence?
This essay will analyze whether we need evidence in medicine – which is part of science – and History. It will also examine if we need proof when we use reason or intuition.

Science does not merely give explanations as it is constantly putting the spotlight on the experience. A scientific hypothesis is one that can stand upto experimentation and be confirmed or rejected. For it to begin to be taken into consideration, it must be supported by evidence, not just ideas or beliefs. In the medicine area, we may believe that the anger of a deity or improper channeling of body energy causes tuberculosis. The issue is that these explanations are useless. As much as we might implore, most of the people infected oftuberculosis end up dying. Nevertheless, if we have used evidence and painstakingly discovered that the disease is caused by an infection of microorganisms, if we know how these microbes are and understand their structure, physiology and life cycle, we can treat the disease with antimicrobial drugs that destroy the pathogen. The difference is that by studying the disease and collecting evidence, the numberof deaths is reduced by several orders of magnitude. There are times when you do not need tangible evidence in order to demonstrate certain and logic argument. For example, we all know that the Sun exists and it has been studied that it is a star that gives light and heat to many planets including the earth and so on, however, no one has ever reached it. However, even if some people believe thataliens exist does not mean it is true or false because of the fact that they have no proof of it.

Sometimes people might lead to the misunderstanding of concepts and evidence. This is what happens in History. History is an area of knowledge, and like medicine, it asks a lot of questions, tries to understand the causes of things and likes to explain. Once the evidence is studied and given, people might interpret it in the wrong way. For example, it has been said how Van Gogh in a violent argument with Paul Gaugin, mutilated himself in 1888. However, despite the beliefs, he did not cut his whole ear, but a part of the right lobe. Perhaps, the myth was created because of the subsequent self-portraits painted by the author in which he appeared with a large bandage on his head. Anotherexample is the rumor that came from an American newspaper in 1935. However, it was not true that Einstein was a bad student in mathematics. In fact, he had brilliant marks and grades in this subject. It is true that when he was adolescent had academic problems, but not in mathematics. Over time, there are many historical facts that remain false, however, people’s belief has maintained it as true. Many people are lied to in many different ways, sometimes in medicine, when the patient is very ill and we do not want it to despair or give up. Sometimes when a kid is adopted, the parents lie about it in order to protect them. In every case, they do not look for the truth because they do not know any other truth than the one they have been told. When I was little, like every other child, I...
