TOPIC: CORRUPTION IN EDUCATIONAL SYSTEMS
COUNTRY: GERMANY
DELEGATE: CRISTIAN MARTINEZ

The education sector is the largest item in a country’s budget; this meansthere are many chances for corruption. Corruption in educational systems is a problem that has been affecting the world in many years. The World Bank has put the worldwide cost of corruptionat 1 trillion dollars. Direct and indirect corruption cost Africa around 25 percent of its total GDP. Over 1/4 of young people in south and west Asia do not complete primary school andthen they don’t have skills to work. Asia, the Soviet Union and Africa have the highest rates of corruption. In many countries the students and teachers are being affected because of thecorruption happening.

Germany has corruption in educational systems, but not as much as other countries. My delegation has corruption in other areas too like in the government. Mydelegation’s education is very advanced and that is the reason why my country does not suffer of much corruption. In some universities of my country, teachers are corrupt and sell exams or gradesto students and my delegation is very worried about that. Many principals also give opportunities to students asking them for money in exchange for approving a class or a semester. Mycountry is trying to find a way to stop this corruption problem to have a better education and a better country.

The solution that my delegation is proposing is to have workers from thegovernment to check schools choosing randomly dates, and watching how everything works in each school. This solution will help countries in the entire world including Germany. The solutiondoesn’t cost a lot of money and is very simple so almost all the countries can afford it. My delegation would want to hear more solutions to stop the corruption in educational systems.
