Exchange Studeny
People don’t know what missing means when they haven’t been away from home for more than 8 months. People don’t know what is to say goodbye when they haven’t walked awayfrom their family and friends with tears in the eyes. People don’t know what is fear when they haven’t walked in a new school not understanding a word of what they say. That is what being an ExchangeStudent is.
As an exchange student you face a lot of problems; First, you are all alone, all by yourself, you really start from cero; your hostfamily, you really dont know what to expect from them.Then comes the school, i think that is the worse fear of every exchange student, you wonder how people is going to treat you, are they gonna judge you? what if they laugh at you because you don’tspeak well? what if they don’t like you? And again you don’t know what to expect. and we have still one problem left, the languange.
Learning a new languange is really dificult, okay, maybelearning grammatics is not that dificult, all you have to do is practice a lot, but still you have problems expressing what you really feel and think. People think you are dumb just because you don’t findthe right way to express yourself, they don’t really know what is going in your mind. And here i’m mentioning another big problem exchange students face, people judging us.
People in the new countrywait to much from us, they think we came knowing everything, they forget they have to help us learning everything about the new culture; everything is new for us, even the things they find ganznormal, we have to learn it. For example here in germany, i had to learn how to cut a brötchen in half, yes, you can laugh but i didn’t know how to do that, we never need to do that in Mexico. I had a badtime with my bicicle too, someone stole it, i fell several times and at the beginning people didn’t understad why i was struggling so much with simple things here in Germany, well because i live far...
