Biotechnology is vital to the solution of many international problems. One of these problems is malnutrition. Biotechnology is looking for answer tofeed the planet. it is improving, for example, the nutritional value of crops, and it is modifying plants to adapt to negative environmental conditions.
It is also redesigning plants diseases andpesticides, and it is modifying animals for food production.
Two other international problems are diseases and pollution. Biotechnologists are experimenting with new drugs, vaccines and othertreatments to fightdifferent diseases. To deal with pollution, biotech researchers have developed microorganisms that digest oil and industrial waste.
