The Conviction of Islam

It is difficult to overstate the impact of Islam. In less than a thousand years, after Muhammad’s death, caliphs (his successors) continues to spread the religion throughout the Middle East, the former Persian Empire, northern Africa and even across the strait of Gibraltar into Spain. Through evangelism, central Asian tribes such as the Moguls and Ottoman Turksconverted into Islam. The Moguls brought Islam into the Indian subcontinent, and the Ottomans continued to spread the religion through the Anatolian Peninsula and into the Balkan Peninsula, replacing the Christian Empire. It was perhaps the time or the place what made that intensely managed expansion stop, but what if Islam had conquered all Europe and possibly the entire world during it tremendousgrowth?
Many countries have grown to fear Islam, and learned to relate the word “terrorism” directly and unconsciously to the Muslims. The main reason for the expansion was religion obviously, but it was also aggravated by greediness and politics. This combination of factors were the ones that transformed into a process that made possible for the Arab and Islam ideals to turn into a prompt growingreligious and most importantly political identity. If Islam had conquered the entire world, it would be another completely different situation because Islam not only requires faith, but full devotion of the mind and the body. The Islam is a very strictly controlled religion that would keep the people suppressed, in need for more liberty and in search for a personal identity.
The founder of Islam wasthe prophet Muhammad. He began to lecture publicly about the religion in 613 CE, after he experienced a series of visions while meditating. Muhammad argued that there was only one God (Allah) and that he was God’s chosen messenger to the people. The religion Muhammad uncovered, which became known as Islam (with means submission to God), was a departure from the beliefs of the indigenous Arabs, most of whom where polytheists. Initially, Muhammad’s teachings received a narrow support and were generally acknowledged with a lack of sympathy. However, Islam gradually grew to encompass a great part of Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

The resulting expansions of the Muslim state gave the place that had recently revealed the faith so it could take root and prosper. The great motivation ofthe politics and ambition were the ones that gave the Islam a political identity. The armies invading usually presented themselves more generous and preferable than those norms, corruptions and persecutions of the civilized empires. It was a way for the conquered people to try out a new faith and an enhanced way of living.
The sacred book of the Muslims, The Qur'an (which means recitations),contains passages that support military action against non-Muslims, which also facilitated the expansion. The Qur'an states < Fight those who believe neither in Allah nor the Last Day, nor hold that forbidden which hath been forbidden by Allah and His Messenger, nor acknowledge the religion of Truth, (even if they are) of the People of the Book... (from Qur'an 9:29)>. The armies of those days were notlike today’s army; instead they were more like coalitions or tribal mercenaries, they were not paid, but depended from the spoils of the war in order to survive.
Throughout history the major fight and the major territory disputes had been over religion, today even though it is not that extreme it is still a major factor of the instability of world peace. The War Department (now the department ofDefense) through a 64-year-old-military intelligence review stated that the Muslims are a threat to the “world stability”. The religion from the begging had lived in an atmosphere surrounded by violence and war. Most of the profit made by the people is due to war and the Qur’an supports it.
The time when Islam was born was very significant; it formed part of the rise of monotheism, next to...
