Experimentacion Animales
You all are probably wondering how this relates to our topic today. Well, I am here to tell all of you why animal experimentation is not ONLY extremely beneficial--but it is necessary for the survival of mankind.
Ialso want to make it clear that I am not here to say that the value of animal life is unimportant, but I AM here to say that if animals are not being severely harmed under animal testing, then it IS acceptable because its benefits have shown to be extremely essential in saving human lives and preventing terrible suffering.
The two main points that I will be discussing for this debate areas follows:
First, I will explain and prove that animal experimentation enables outstanding medical achievement and advances in medications, vaccines, and surgical procedures.
For my second contention, I will portray the many reasons for why and how it is acceptable to test on animals in order to achieve these medical benefits.
REASON NUMBER 1
The U.S Department of Healthand Human Services states that it is safe to say that almost every form of conventional medical treatment, such as antibiotics, vaccines, radiation or surgery all derive from animal testing. Many of you who have so desperately needed those antibiotics for that killer strep throat, the flu, or any other illness to reduce the pain and suffering, would have never been cured without the initialtesting and research on animals.
To be more specific, I would like to name some of these medical advances: they include the development of treatments for cancer, kidney dialysis, kidney transplants, heart diseases, brain disorders, arthritis, transplantations, blood transfusions, meningitis, high blood pressure, breast cancer, insulin for diabetes, and treatments for HIV. The list goes on and on. Ibet almost all of you had no idea how much animal experimentation was crucial in developing these treatments. Almost every drug and every disease requires the research and testing on animals, otherwise the human population would suffer and in many cases would die due to these horrendous killers.
Open- heart surgery alone has saved the lives of an estimated 440,000 people every year in theU.S., which is now routine thanks to the 20 years of animal research by scientists such as John Gibbon of Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia.
Additionally, not only does animal experimentation benefit human mankind in medicine but it also aids other animals as well, which I myself was unaware of. Many of these similar drugs developed from animal testing for humans can be used animals aswell; therefore, the vet can use the same antibiotics and antiseptics; the same hormones, tranquillizers, local anesthetics and general anesthetics as doctors. There are also many treatments that are exclusively used in veterinary medicine such as Ivemectin, which is one of the most important veterinary medicines. Without it, many of your own pets would not be able to fight off those internal wormsor external fleas and lice.
With all of this evidence, it is obvious to see how the benefits of animal experimentation are phenomenal, and subsequently, outweigh the limited harm to animals that I am about to speak about for my second contention.
PART 2- WHY IS IT ACCEPTABLE
I mentioned earlier how most people in society (besides vegetarians) accept eating animals for food as well as...
