Experimento de hooke
An IB Internal Assessment
I will investigate the relation between displacement of thespring endpoint and the restoring force of the spring; we intend to find out whether there is a relationship between the spring’s extension and the force applied to it. To investigate this relationship wehave designed an experiment.
Experiment Disign:
For this experiment we will need:
* Spring
* Ruler
* Newton-metre
We will measure the extension (e) of the spring when it is at arelaxed state(e0). Then with a newton-metre we will extend the spring uptil e1 and record how much force (F) was required to do so. We will repeat this measurments uptil e8 so that we have a considerableamount of raw data.

Variables:
For this experiment to be as accurate as possible we will have to control variables.
* Control variables:
* Same spring, Newton-meter, andruler: by using the same equipment for each measurement we will reduce the possibility of mal calibrated equipment.
* Independent variable:
* Extension of the spring: by stretching the springto ex we can determine how much Force
* Dependent variable:
* Force: we will capture the force required to move the spring.
Data collection and analysis:
Displacement ± (0.0005)/m |Extension / ± ( 0.05)cm | Force /±(0.2) N | Max Force | Min Force |
0 | 4.2 | 0 | 0.2 | -0.2 |
0.02 | 6.2 | 0.6 | | |
0.03 | 7.2 | 1.1 | | |
0.04 | 8.2 | 1.5 | | |
0.05 | 9.2 | 1.9| | |
0.06 | 10.2 | 2.4 | | |
0.07 | 11.2 | 2.8 | | |
0.08 | 12.2 | 3.2 | 3.4 | 3 |
In the graph we can clearly see that there is a directly proportional relationship between theextension of the spring and the force applied. The more you want to extend the spring the more force you need.
Conclusion and Evaluation:
From the data collected we can conclude that there exist...
