Martinez Miranda Etson IdahirWilhelm Schickard (born April 22, 1592 in the town of Herrenberg - died 1635 in Tübingen) is a German mathematician famous for having built the first automatic calculator in 1623.
CalculatorA calculator is a device used to perform arithmetic calculations. Although modern calculators often incorporate a general purpose computer, is designed to perform certain operations to be moreflexible. For example, there are graphing calculators mathematical graphics specialist fields such as trigonometry and statistics. They also tend to be more portable than most computers, though some PDAshave sizes similar to typical models of calculator.
In the past, they were used to support the numerical work abacuses, comptómetros, Napier abacus, mathematical tables, slide rules and addingmachines. The term "computer" was used to refer to the person who exercised this work, also helping paper and pencil. This semi-manual process of calculation was tedious and error prone. Currently, thecalculators are electronic and are manufactured by many companies in many different shapes and sizes. You can find everything from very cheap models the size of a credit card to other more expensive with abuilt-in printer.
One of the first mechanical calculators is the Antikythera mechanism.
Origin: the abacus
Chinese Abacus.
The first calculators were abacuses, often constructed as awooden frame with beads sliding on wires. The abacus was used for centuries before the adoption of the written Arabic numerals system and are still used by merchants and clerks in China and elsewhere....
