Is a process by which thermal radiation from a planetary surface is absorbed by atmospheric greenhouse gases , and is re-radiated in all directions . Because of this re- radiation backto the surface and lower atmosphere , which results in an elevation of the average temperature of the surface above it would be in the absence of gases
CAUSES:
DEFORESTATION
" Forests help inmaintaining the balance of nature by absorbing excess carbon dioxide in the atmosphere . Logging, therefore, leads to an increase in the level of carbon dioxide in the atmosphere , time improves thegreenhouse effect.
FOSSIL
" Greenhouse gases can also be released into the atmosphere due to the burning of fossil fuels, oil , coal and gas.
" These materials are used increasingly and rampantly inindustries. Most factories produce certain gases that last a long time in the atmosphere.
Increase in average temperature rises to global warming is then observed . "
ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
" Other causesof human-induced greenhouse effect is the emission of greenhouse gases by electrical appliances . These gases , chlorofluorocarbons ( CFCs) , used on a large scale in the electronics industry .
"Some processes of cement manufacturing industries also act as a cause to the greenhouse effect.
POPULATION GROWTH
" Population growth is an indirect contributor and one of the main causes of thegreenhouse effect .
" With the increasing population , the needs and desires of the people therefore increase deforestation increases, the manufacturing and process industry .
" This results in the increasedrelease of industrial gases which catalyze the greenhouse .
