the preface

In a far away galaxy, or perhaps in an alternate universe paralleling
our own, Jack Hambone walks alone...or so he thinks. Hesearches for
adventures to go on instead of drowning in misery. For love is a rare if
not absent element on his world of Translobia. Now, he is doing all right,
I guess because he is starting to really enjoy what he is doing...being
unemployed and making paintings. He has no access to or interest in
Earthly riches such as BMWs, Fendi sunglasses, tight black Gucci shirts
with chest hairs, nor anyother sparkly thing to attract fish or birds So,
anyway, he is going about trying to be a successful artist in the City of Lost
Angels. He is a very nature oriented person. He goes on hikes in the
wilderness quite often to escape the world of men and of their religions. It
was on one of these trips into the woods that he decided that he would
throw an art show/educational party at his house,specifically, in his
spacious backyard. This novel is a portrait of the artist as a young man as
he prepares for his art show

This is what EYE did Today
Ham awoke again, miraculously. It was seven in the morning. He had just received
his check sohe could afford cigarettes, finally. He walked down to the store doing all of his
sacred rituals which will be described later. Just know that he does Them and holds up the
whole world through them. He bought some squares, Just like Beeman used to call them
and still does to this day. He smoked them in front of Alpharays and drank the coffee that
he had purchased and modified. Back at home,Ham put on his worst clothes. He drove
up a street and onto a freeway. Changing the channels on the radio, he lost sight of the
road for precious seconds. He exited in the Jungle. This is the area between the
Berdugos and Angel’s Crest. Here many people existed. He got to his friend’s house at
8:00 AM. His friend was waking the deities. Ham respectfully observed and offered a
flower. He sawthat the sculptures of the two white bunnies he had made for the family
were lovingly placed in a corner of the room. He accepted an orange but passed on the
oatmeal. They got into Jacob’s truck and drove toward the only mountains that matter.
Right on Tuna Drive, just after you go under the underpass, is the main road that leads up to
the radio towers along the ridge near the summit. Theyarrived at the trailhead which, at the
beginning, was an asphalt road. Ham got out of the truck and did his stretching. Oblation to
the Son. They started walking along the road. No-one else was there. It was a Monday
morning in the woods, if EYE remembers correctly and He always does. Soon the asphalt
disintegrated into a dirt road. To their immediate right was the 220 Freeway. To their right
wasTuna Canyon itself. It was a very steep drop from the road to the canyon floor. Water
could be heard churning its way through sand and stone and fragments of fallen trees.
Above and higher than the canyon rose the backside, the hinterlands, of the Berdugos
themselves. Ham had been raised on the West facing slopes which bore the brunt of the
afternoon sun. Here on this side, the mountains were...
