Good morning members of the jury, proposition team, team mates, teachers and audience, My name is Camila Pizarro and I am the third speaker against the motion “this house believes that smoking shouldbe prohibited in all public places”

Maybe the best characteristic we as human beings have is the capacity to decide by our own, we decide to do or not to do something according to our interestsand preferences. Although we know that the habit of smoking may produce damages to our health, nobody has the right to oblige other person to do it, the one who smokes does it because he or she hasdecided to do it.

Dear audience, today we are arguing because it has been proposed the measure of prohibiting smoking in public places, but ladies and gentlemen, Isn’t it true that prohibiting doingsomething, is the prove of a serious discriminative issue? Besides, Why deciding to be a smoker will make an individual somebody having less dignity than other, lacking for the right to be in a publicplace?

In addition, it is not only a problem related to discrimination but also it will certainly produce a huge economic damage, which will generate problems for the whole country. We can highlightsome of the problems:

Due to the restriction on all public places for smokers, cigarette sales decline because persons would be limited in order to enjoy those places. Asfewer and fewer sales or snuff demand, companies will be obliged to reduce production costs, so audience,is indisputable that the rate of unemployment in our country would increase considerably.And what of those people who like going to pubs or restaurants to enjoy the tranquility they get from smoking cigarettes? If you ban smoking in all public places, a lot of these local sales would belimited because smokers not only consume such a product, but also accompanying with the ingestion of a drink in particular may find at these locations.
