Assignment 1: Introduce Yourself

To begin our class, to get to know your classmates, and to give me an example of your writing ability, please complete your first assignment. In a short essay (1to 2 pages), introduce yourself to your classmates and instructor. You may share whatever details of your life that you feel are pertinent, interesting, or memorable. Also in this essay, describeyour writing and literary history. For example, how well do you feel you write? How have past instructors, friends, and family judged your writing ability? Do you agree with them? What types ofwriting assignments have you completed in the past? What have you read; what do you enjoy reading? And finally, what do you hope to gain from English 201?
Write in complete sentence; use propergrammar and punctuation, and develop your essay with organized paragraphs. Please double space your document; use “New Times Roman” or “Courier New,” 12pt font, and use MLA format. (See example below.)When you have completed your essay, email your assignment to your instructor, and classmates, if you wish. Click on Classlist, also found on the yellow toolbar; click on the empty box on the tool barabove the class list; this will check all the members of the class; next click on the envelope icon on the same toolbar. Once the message box appears, you can attach your essay by using the browserbelow. Browse your computer files, select the file you want to attach, click “open,” and then click “add.” You might put your name in the subject box. Finally, click “send.” You could also cut andpaste your introduction essay into the email to your classmates, in case you have attachment or format problems.
An example of MLA format is on the next page. Do not copy the explanatory commentsin parentheses.
