Graphing Exercise and Grading Rubric
Low-stakes Assignment

A difficult aspect of writing in the sciences is accurate presentation of data. We want for you to have some practicerepresenting data that you have collected from your forest field trip before you attempt to write up the data that you are collecting for your student designed experiment.

After your forest field trip,your GLA will email you a compilation of the data collected by your class. Your assignment is to take that data and put it in a graphical form that you feel best represents the data as it pertains toanswering the questions chosen by your class to investigate at the Lake Herrick forest.

A computer generated graph must be submitted. Hand-written graphs will not be accepted and will resultin receiving 0 points for this assignment. There are many helpful tutorials online that you can access for making figures in Excel.

Points on this assignment can be earned based on the following:▪ Inclusion of axis labels (1 point)
▪ Appropriate scales of measurement on the axes (1 point)
▪ Inclusion of appropriate units of measurement (1 point)
▪ Inclusion of figure legends placedin the appropriate area* (1 point)
▪ A figure that is clear and easy to read (1 point)
