The Hunger Games
One month before its premiere, The Hunger Games was a sell out, all the tickets were sold in few days. Since then, the film adaptation of Gary Ross based on SuzanneCollins’ book promised to be a blockbuster and in its first weekend collected 55 million dollars, which pointed THG the third best premiere in history.
This film tells the dictatorialsituation of Panem. Every year each of the twelve districts should offer up one girl and one boy between the ages of 12 and 18 to fight to the death in the annual Hunger games.
The principal castof this awaited film is formed by Jennifer Lawrence who portrays the brave and fighter Katniss Everdeen, the most important character. Josh Hutcherson, who appears in many other films, plays the role of Peeta Mellark, the backer’s son and Liam Hemsworth portrays Gale Hawthorne, the best friend of Katniss’. It also counts with the special participation of Woody Harrelson asHaymitch Abernathy and Lenny Kravitz, but this one does not sing in the film, he plays Cinna, Katniss’ stylist.
What about the film techniques? The plot of the film is amazing, the actorschosen are perfect in each role and the original soundtrack has made the scenes more interesting and intriguing. The worse of the film are the film angles and shots. They make people feeldizzy because of the constant changes of scene.
Nevertheless, there’ve been many differences between the book and the film. Many important details are missing which could make thespectator understand better the film and ask themselves the five W’s.
The Hunger Games is not that typical film everyone knows. Its plot is not only about love but about the dictatorial situationof a country, the lack of freedom and peace, injustice, starts of rebellions… It’s a very successful film and everyone cannot wait to watch the next two parts of this awesome trilogy.
