Flujos Con Gases
FLOW WITH GASES
Basicconcepts Flow with gases at low velocities (incompressible flow) Flow with gases at high velocities (compressible flow) Some applications
Flow with gases at low velocities
“It can be consideredincompressible flow” Flow around the cars and radiators
Taking off and landing of aircrafts
Flow with gases at low velocities
Flow inside and around the buildings
Flow of air in air conditioner andair heater
Flow with gases at low velocities Flow of instrument air (e.g. air used in control valve) industrial air (e.g. air used in drying process) or other gases IF PRESSURE DROP IS LESS THAN10 % OF INITIAL PRESSURE OR M < 0.3 (Mach number) These kind of flow is very common in process engineering.
Flow with gases at high velocities
“If the pressure drop due to the flow of a gasthrough a system is large enough, compared with the inlet pressure, to occasion a 10 percent or greater decrease in gas density, the flow is considered to be “compressible”. In this event, formulas must beused which make proper allowance for this change in both density and velocity”. Perry, John H. Chemical Engineers’ Handbook. 4th. edition, 1963.
