For the Love of Nancy is about a girl named Nancy Walsh who has just graduated from school. Nancy still doesn’t know what todo with her future,, and when she goes to college, she separates herself from other people. Nancy starts obsessing with her weight, barely eats, and begins exercising all the time. Many people noticethat Nancy is losing too much weight, but her mother ignores this until a Christmas party, where all her family and friends really notice how thin Nancy is. When they talk to her about it, Nancyassures that everything will be fine, but her uncle then says that if they didn’t do something, Nancy could die. Nancy is then sent to the hospital for recovery, but she feels she doesn’t belong there. Shestops eating again and hides her food. The doctor notices and connects her to a feeding tube, but when Nancy gains six pounds, she gets upset and signs out of the hospital, causing her parents to goto court to prove that even if Nancy is over eighteen, she could become extremely sick for signing out of the hospital.
The movie explained the concept of the disease thoroughly; it went througheverything a person with an Eating Disorder should go through. The choice of the cast was good since Tracey Gold, who plays anorexic Nancy Walsh, went through anorexia herself, which helped enhance thesymptoms and behavior of a true anorexic, making the movie believable. The film had its proper moments of despair and happiness and was not over acted. Although the ending was very confusing for many...
