1) Purpose

The purpose of this document is to provide a model Quality Assurance Manual (QAM) for use by any entity performing digital and multimedia forensic examinations. This is being provided as a meansfor a laboratory to fulfill accreditation documentation requirements whether or not accreditation is actually sought or obtained.


2) Scope

The document proposes minimum requirements pertaining to all quality assurance aspects for a forensic laboratory. This document is applicable to an organization of any size, including a single examiner.

Assurance Manual as included in Appendix A. This document may be used in totality or by a specific section as needed by the organization. It should be noted that in a small organization, one person could fill multiple roles and there may not be as many levels between examiner and lab manager.
