Comparative Essay about Frankenstein

Mary Shelley’s original story provided a story line for the imagination of the filmmaker, making the movie related to the original storybut also unique in itself. For the most part, if one were to only watch the movie they would have a fairly good sense of the book. There are many minor details which are differentfrom the in the book and movie.
There weren't only a few differences between the movie and the book. There only differences were really in how characters acted and how theypresented the ideas.
• In the movie Victor and Elizabeth's relationship is much stronger and they're much more physical and express their feelings.

• In the movie Victor steals thebody parts from the prison, not from graveyards around the school like in the book.

• The book spends a lot of time on the creatures time spent observing the De Lacey family (Felix, Agatha and Safie) in their cabin, the movie spends nearly no time showing how the monster learns how to read, write and speak. They also give you the impression that he justlearns what love and emotions are.

• In the movie Elizabeth goes and visits Victor while he's at college. This never takes place in the novel.

• In the movie the monster neverspeaks. In the book he has a lot to say.

• In the movie the monster is burned to death. In the book he leaves 'for the farthest shore.

• In the book the doctor's youngerbrother is killed. In the movie there is no younger brother, only Frankenstein's father the Baron.

• In the book, Frankenstein's first name was Victor and his friend's name wasHenry. In the movie their names are reversed.

In my opinion both are a pleasure to read and watch. On the other hand I never forget that Frankenstein is a classic in horror film.
