MECOW
(introduction)
Residential zone:
Although our area greets the poorest people of the city, workers with medium-low wages (which are generally below 1000$) we can find as well to college students, who can be considered to be the richest inhabitants of this poor area.
Houses were built along the lines of the ‘basics needs of people’, but within that we can distinguish 3 types of homes:* The first one: An apartment made of tin and recycled metals which consists of a living room, a bedroom and a bathroom. These apartments are especially for couples or small families. Solar panels at the roof would provide them hot water and electricity at day, and a turbine would supply it at night.
* The second one: These are some flats that would enable us to place big families in wide,spacious homes which are basically formed by two bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom. In fact, homes would be provided by solar panels at the roof like the apartments, but instead of a turbine at night (which wouldn’t deliver energy enough to every home) an alternative dynamo would generate energy.
* Finally, we can find some small but modern-styled duplex, which are ideallydesigned for those who have a bigger wage, found between 1000-1500$. These houses besides having 2 bedrooms, a living room, a kitchen and a bathroom it has as well a parking zone. This is what makes the difference in comparison with the flat bocks.
Transport:
Our MECOW, is characterized by having a vast range of ecologically friendly ways of transport, from “non-stop trains” to “bike cabins”. Butwhat are these new inventions?
Well, we thought that a good way of reducing energy consumption is combining two different vehicles that would move along the same railway. A solar powered energy train that moves underneath this suspended railway. On top of which mini-buses will get attached, therefore we would only use the train’s energy, until the bus deviates its route. In those trams in whichthere’s no train below the rail, a bike-cabin line will be settled.
Green zone:
We’ve also thought that including big green zones will give our city a nice, charming and colourful place, not only for children to play, but to become the lungs of our town, cleaning the air and providing a better quality of living. Anyway, green zones can also be efficient and used in buildings by means of greenroofs, that could be present for example on the Hospital, where would it be better?

Sanitation and Health care:
We’ve decided that to avoid Hospitals’ conglomeration, these spaces will only be used for surgery and for severe medical treatments. In order to do that, electronic bracelets will be provided to every single inhabitant of the ECO-CITY. This apparatus will be in charged of detectingmetabolic fluctuations and diagnosing the illness that the person has as well as showing a possible treatment (antibiotics, pills…), which could be easily and quickly collected by the patient in the Hospital. By doing this, unnecessary visits to the sanitary center will be avoided and therefore doctors could focus on more important issues, such as in genetic investigation.
Sports zone:
Just like inpast cities and taking into account that to be sportive is essential if we want to care about our health, therefore it couldn’t be missing in this town. Sports are a great way of letting off steam and disconnecting form stress and any sort of issues. Our theory is that if people have access to this escape way won’t tend to delinquency, and therefore the city will be safer. The area will have agym, where machines such as statics, weights, treadmills, and other sporty machines would offer the better way to practice a fun, healthless, careless exercise; a swimming pool, where swimmers and synchronized swimming teams would enjoy at unsurpassable conditions of great, warm, charming baths; and sports fields, such as basketball and football pitches, wide, large golf fields, etc.
